The Pittsburgh Steelers will play against the Minnesota Vikings in the Hall of Fame game Sunday night but most of the top players will be sitting on the sidelines.
Starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will get the day off and third-year quarterback Landry Jones will start and play most of the game, head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters Saturday morning.
"We obviously want to see a lot of young people," Tomlin said. "It is going to be a significant game for Landry Jones, he is going to play a lot. I don't have a predetermined snap count that we expect him to have. He could play the entire game, he could play a majority of the game and our intentions are to get a good look at him."
Along with Roethlisberger, Tomlin said Le'Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, Maurkice Pouncey, Heath Miller and James Harrison will also be sitting out.
There will be some other veterans who will likely get the night off, but they will be determined based on "healthy numbers at their respective positions," Tomlin said.
