For bargain shopping NFL teams, this QB could now be the flavor of the month

The next piece to move could help a QB-needy team.

The Denver Broncos and New York Jets are dragging their feet when it comes to who their respective starting quarterbacks will be, former Los Angeles Rams quarterback Case Keenum could be the best option remaining.

While Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith currently hold the respective starting gigs, both squads are certainly exhausting all options at competition for the position. Ryan Fitzpatrick's price tag is too high, Brian Hoyer might sign with a contender and Colin Kaepernick probably isn't going to take a pay cut just to land elsewhere.

The Rams hold the top spot in the NFL Draft, which means they're almost certainly taking either top quarterback prospect Carson Wentz or Jared Goff. After inking Keenum to a deal worth just under $4 million, he could be traded for a mid-level draft pick to help recoup some of the selections sent in the blockbuster trade to the Tennessee Titans for the top spot.

Keenum isn't a young gunslinger, but he's still relatively young, is on a cheap deal and at minimum could be an extra body competing for the gig in training camp.

Keenum appeared in six games last season, and tossed for over 800 yards, four touchdowns and one interception, good for an 87.7 quarterback rating.
