Tomsula, 48, was out of the league last season after being fired by San Francisco following a 5-11 showing in his only season as a head coach. Tomsula was previously on San Francisco's staff as D-line coach from 2007-2014.

He would replace defensive line coach Bill Johnson, who was fired at the end of the 2016 season.
