Collins totaled 90 tackles and three interceptions in his three years in the bayou. He only started 10 games at LSU, but was the highest drafted Tiger last year with the 42nd overall pick.
"We are disappointed to hear the news regarding Jalen today," Falcons coach Dan Quinn said in a statement. "I have already spoken to Jalen about this, and I have no doubt this will be something that he will learn from."
Collins played in all 16 games for the Falcons last season recording 11 tackles.
