Former NFL Player Amani Toomer Bashes No. 1 Overall Pick Caleb Williams For Telling His Teammates To Clean Up The Locker Room

Former New York Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer, who has been known to air out his opinions, didn't hold back when responding to the recent news of superstar rookie Caleb Williams asking his Bears' teammates to clean up after themselves in the locker room.

Bears player Kevin Byard appeared on 670 The Score, and retold what the No. 1 overall 2024 NFL Draft pick told his new teammates, after he thought they were being too messy.

"First thing he said was, 'Hey, man, we're all grown men here, right?'" Byard narrated.

"He was like, 'We're getting a little too sloppy. We're leaving water bottles, towels and all types of things around. Custodians have a lot of square footage that they have to cover in this whole building. Let's try to help them out by cleaning up after ourselves.'"

Although Williams was trying his best to be respectful to the cleaning workers, former 13-year NFL player Toomer did not take well to the rookie trying to assert his leadership skills by telling veteran teammates to clean up.

Toomer addressed this topic while appearing on "The Carton Show" Thursday.

"He's Russell Wilson 2.0. This is not gonna go over well," he said. "Some rookie's gonna come in who hasn't played one snap, talking, wearing the fingernail polish, now he's gonna come in here and tell me, who has been here, been through the struggle, that I need to clean up?"

Ultimately, with all the hype surrounding the 22-year-old out of USC, there will be much criticism that follows him no matter what he says or does. With this in mind, the only way to silence the critics is by his play on the field, as Williams hopes to contribute to the team's success, playing for a franchise that hasn't had a winning season since 2018.
