Colin Kaepernick remains a free agent as April approaches and the 29-year-old is perhaps the most divisive figure in the NFL. After a 2016 season in which he threw 16 touchdown passes against four interceptions, it would seem to be a lock that Kaepernick would be able to find work somewhere in the league but, given the off-field implications springing from his decision to kneel for the national anthem, it isn't the simplest of situations.

On Thursday afternoon, former NFL quarterback Chris Simms took to the air on NFL Network and, with Kaepernick's situation as the backdrop, he made a staggering prediction.
It seems far-fetched that Kaepernick, given his age and talent level, would never take another NFL snap but it also isn't impossible. Simms does not indicate that Kaepernick won't be on a roster at any point, rather that he won't actually play, and that raises the bar considerably.
Still, it would be tough (read: impossible) to argue that more than 50 quarterbacks in the league should be on rosters ahead of Kaepernick and it would seem crazy that he couldn't find a job. Until he signs, though, the jury is out as to whether that will happen for 2017 and what is actually behind the fact that he is currently unemployed.
