The Cleveland Browns stayed busy in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. The team selected Texas A&M's Myles Garrett, Michigan's Jabrill Peppers and Miami's David Njoku.
Njoku's arrival in Cleveland unfortunately meant the end for veteran tight end Gary Barnidge's stay in the Dawg Pound.
NFL reporter Ian Rapoport tweeted Friday afternoonthat Barnidge had been informed by the Browns that he'll be cut.
Barnidge broke out for the Browns in 2015, but dropped off a bit in 2016 and at 31-years-old, it's clear the Browns are trying to get younger across the board.
Still, Barnidge is still a productive tight end and he'd be a nice pickup for a number of teams that could use another veteran tight end — perhaps like the Green Bay Packers or New England Patriots.
Barnidge realed in 55 catches for 612 yards for the Browns in 2016.
