Frustrations Boil Over Between Derek Carr, Saints Teammate

Even with the hapless, and one-win, Carolina Panthers in town tempers flared for Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints' offense.

In the third quarter of Sunday afternoon's game, Saints center Erik McCoy angrily got in Derek Carr's face after the Saints quarterback took a costly third-down sack that stalled out a promising possession.

Through the first three quarters of Sunday's game, Carr had completed 17-of-25 passes for just 115 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Prior to Sunday's game, Carr cleared concussion protocol, after suffering two concussions in three weeks. In addition to the multiple concussions, Carr has also had to face shoulder and rib injuries in recent weeks.

"I do not have any worries on that stuff," Carr told a pool reporter, via Pro Football Talk. "It didn't feel like the two were even related to one another. So, for me, that's just sometimes the price of doing business and playing football. So no concern on that part, long term or short term."

Despite battling through injuries, Carr's first season in New Orleans has been underwhelming, as the offense has struggled to find any semblance of consistency or an identity through the first 13-plus weeks of the 2023 campaign.

Entering Sunday, Carr completed 66.2 percent of his passes for 2,761 yards with 11 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. However, the Saints entered Week 14 at just 5-7. Carr signed with the Saints as a free agent this season, reuniting with head coach Dennis Allen.

Perhaps Carr and the Saints can build some momentum after playing the Panthers, but it doesn't seem like the offense is on the same page.
