The New York Giants, led by quarterback Daniel Jones, lost 28-6 to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon.

That is to say, the team's fans were unhappy with the sixth-year quarterback's performance, as he threw for 186 yards on 22-of-42 completions along with two interceptions.

As Jones was leaving the stadium, the fans could be heard saying, "I need a million Danny, I need a million."
Seemingly, this in reference to Jones' contract, as he has been viewed as 'overpaid' ever since being signed to a four-year $160 million dollar deal ($92 million guaranteed).

Considering the fact that the Giants wouldn't pay their franchise superstar running back Saquon Barkley more than the their cross-town rival Philadelphia Eagles (three-year, $37.75 million), many fans have criticized the front office for paying Jones so much.
To add even more disappointment, Barkley scored three total touchdowns on 109 rushing yards during his Eagles debut, a week 1 win vs. the Green Bay Packers, while the Giants as a team had zero touchdowns in their loss.

He’s our most popular player by far!”

In view of Jones' on-the-field play, since signing his big contract prior to the 2023 season, he has underperformed. To emphasize, Jones has thrown more 'pick sixes' than touchdown passes. This means he has contributed more points for his opponents than his own team.
Notably, in games Jones has started since last season, he has a 1-6 record and only in three of those games did the Giants' offense put up double-digit points.
🚨INSANE STAT: Since signing a $160 million contract with #Giants, Daniel Jones has thrown more touchdown passes to the OPPOSITIONS THAN TO HIS OWN TEAMMATES.
😳😳😳
MORE PICK-SIXES THAN TD PASSES TO HIS OWN GUYS.

Following the game, fans already seemed to give up hope as they were seen burning #8 jerseys in the parking lot outside of MetLife stadium.

The 27-year-old quarterback remained optimistic following the abysmal outing to start the season.
"We'll get in, watch the film, see what we can do better, see how I need to play better, and go from there. We're focused on that."
When head coach Brian Daboll was asked by reporters if he considered taking Jones out of the game and benching him, he shook his head saying 'no.'

However, when asked if he still has confidence in his quarterback, Daboll dodged the question.
"Overall, we have to do a better job, and that starts with me."
Jones' next chance will come next Sunday vs. the Washington Commanders, who ranked dead last in passing defense in 2023, so it may offer a good bounce back opportunity for the struggling quarterback.
