Odell Beckham Jr. got his old Giants number back. He never got much of a chance to put it to use.

The Giants are releasing the 33-year-old receiver after three games, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday. Beckham played 20 offensive snaps, was targeted once and did not catch a pass.
His return had looked like one of the better stories of training camp. After sitting out the 2025 season, Beckham earned a place on the initial 53-man roster and reclaimed No. 13, the number he wore during his first Giants stint.
Then the regular season started. Malik Nabers, Darnell Mooney and Malachi Fields were ahead of him in the receiving rotation. Beckham was seldom on the field, and his lack of a special teams role made the roster decision harder to justify.
The Giants are expected to use the opening to add returner Braxton Berrios to the active roster after he exhausted his practice squad elevations, according to Big Blue View.
None of that takes away from Beckham's first run in New York. He caught 390 passes for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns from 2014 through 2018, making three Pro Bowls before the Giants traded him to Cleveland.
NFL fans wanted one more moment from that version of OBJ. Three games and one target later, the Giants needed the roster spot more.
