Herschel Walker, 53, thinks he could still play in the NFL

If there's one position in the NFL where your age matters, it's running back. Usually, running backs start to decline when they hit 30-years-old. There are a few running backs who have found success after 30, but the majority aren't valuable anymore.

Don't tell that to 53-year-old Herschel Walker, though. Walker played in the USFL/NFL for 14 years, but he still thinks he can play today.

"There is not a doubt in my mind, if I played today, I (could) contribute to a team," Walker told CBS Sports radio.

"Let me tell you the reason why [I can play]," Walker said. "Running backs today don't play every play. They only play, like, a couple of plays and they go out of the game."

If there is anyone that could play professional football in his 50s, it's Walker. He is in incredible shape, regardless of his age. For the past five years, Walker has competed in Mixed Martial Arts events. He says he could be the George Foreman of football.

To really understand the kind of shape Walker is in, just look at this quote below.

"The last time I ran a 40, I ran a 4.3," Walker said. "That was like a year ago. That was when I had not been doing any track work. All I had been doing was [MMA]."

A 4.3?! If that is true, I don't see why Walker can't play on some team. Even though he hasn't played in almost 20 years, I'm sure he is more valuable than Trent Richardson.
