Hue Jackson won't even consider newest head coach opening despite his situation with the Browns

Is he for real?

It appears for all the world as if Marvin Lewis will not be back as the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018 and, while that likely will not be the only head coaching opening in the NFL this season, it is an intriguing vacancy. With that in mind, however, murmurs that Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson could be interested in going back to his old stomping grounds fell on deaf ears this week.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com brings word from Jackson, who is focused on his job in Cleveland after outlasting the front office despite an 0-14 record.

"I've kind of known about Marvin. Obviously, we all know that Marvin is a close friend, but trust me, I'm not running from this. I've never gone any place and left it worse than when I found it. I'm going to be here, and I need to get this fixed as fast as I can because it's important."

Lewis went on to say that he "can't worry about what's happening in Cincinnati" and, even if this won't completely remove his name from the discussion, he did his best. In some ways, it would be an off-the-wall choice from the Bengals to even target Jackson considering his dismal record with the Browns, but it could conceivably be overlooked in light of Cleveland's organizational mess.

Regardless, Hue Jackson seems to be digging in as the Browns head coach and the Bengals will need to look elsewhere to replace Lewis after a 15-year reign.
