Internet Reacts To Former Projected No. 1 Overall NFL Draft Pick Shedeur Sanders Falling Out Of First Round

Colorado star quarterback Shedeur Sanders didn't hear his name called during the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and this came as a surprise to many, including the QB himself.

Sanders made all the preparations to celebrate being selected by an NFL team, as he even unveiled a custom pre-draft room, which unfortunately was never used.

Thursday afternoon, he also tweeted out: "I'm built for whatever today may bring."

To note, many draft experts believed Shedeur would at least be taken No. 21 by the Pittsburgh Steelers (who don't have a true QB1), but they ultimately decided to go with DT Derrick Harmon out of Oregon.

Then, with the No. 25 pick, QB Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) was selected by the New York Giants.

While things didn't pan out as expected, considering Shedeur was formerly projected as a potential No. 1 overall draft pick (at the end of his 2024 season), he took it on the chin, noting this was all just going to be "fuel to the fire."

Certainly, Sanders has proven himself with his play on the field, as he threw for 7,364 total yards and 64 TD's/12 INT's to go with an all-time record-breaking pass completion percentage (71.8%) during his past two seasons in Colorado.

Yet, many believe the flashiness he portrays, much like his father Deion "PrimeTime" Sanders, may not fit into certain NFL locker rooms.

In addition, there were rumors that team meetings with certain organizations did not go over so well, as reports indicated anonymous coaches and GM's referred to the 23-year-old as "too egotistical."

Not to mention, the decision to decline throwing at the NFL Combine and not participating in the Senior Bowl, while Coach Prime also insinuated he wouldn't allow the wrong team to draft his son, all may have led to front offices passing up on him in the first round.

All in all though, Shedeur seemingly won't have to wait long in hearing his name called for Round 2 on Friday, as he could be taken with the No. 33 overall pick by the Cleveland Browns, who haven't found a franchise quarterback since Bernie Kosar.

Yet, this is the same team who already passed up on drafting fellow Colorado superstar Travis Hunter at No. 2 overall (trade with Jacksonville Jaguars), so anything could happen.
