Fans attending Sunday's game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns will be in for a surprise. The Jaguars' home opener will see its stadium experiencing a significant change, putting their franchise quarterback front and center. No, there's no statue being built nor any roads being named in his honor. Instead, the stadium will see its name go from EverBank Stadium to... drum roll... TrEverBank Stadium.
Don't worry—the gimmick is only for one day, but they'll go all out to show it off during the opener. To reflect the temporary change, signage will be posted throughout the complex and in the parking lots. You'll even see its website has the name change reflected.

Why is Jacksonville doing this? Money, of course. The quarterback has a new partnership with the financial institute, so what better way to show off this collaboration than by taking their quarterback, who has an aptly fitting name for the pun, and running with it?
According to ESPN, Lawrence is fine with the Jaguars' stadium name change, though he doesn't like being front and center: "I don't like having too much of the spotlight with stuff like that, but I think it's clever." While it's ironic to feel that way when you were a No. 1 overall pick and a starting NFL quarterback, it's refreshing to see someone who isn't all about the attention.
His TrEverBank Stadium team-up with the field's naming rights company will feature multiple television and social media commercials. Lawrence filmed the promos back in June.
His sponsorship with EverBank was first announced in August. In a press release, he stated that he was eager to work for a brand that "shares my passion for giving back and always going the extra mile in the pursuit of success." Likewise, the company's CEO, Greg Seibly, said having a chance to work with the Clemson product "not only strengthens our connections to our home communities but also enables EverBank to reach even more clients from coast to coast."
The Jaguars stadium changed its name to EverBank Stadium on Sept. 17, 2023. It was previously called TIAA Bank Field. The location has been around since 1995, when the complex was launched as Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.
