Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winton is reportedly facing a $153 fine following a car accident on the Veterans Expressway in Tampa earlier this month, according to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times.
Winston received a citation for careless driving after his Ford F-250 rear-ended a Subaru Forester driven by Tyler Stepka on Feb. 13 and was accused of operating his vehicle "in (a) careless of negligent manner."
Both vehicles were damaged in the accident but neither of the drivers were injured, according to the report. The citation listed $4,000 in total property damage, however, the Florida Highway Patrol estimated that the damages were worth $2,000 for each vehicle, according to the Times.
The former No. 1 overall draft pick is coming off a disappointing third NFL season in which he missed three games due to a shoulder sprain, which marked the first time he was forced to miss time due to an injury during his college or professional career.
Winston recorded a career-worst 3,504 and 19 touchdowns, while leading the Bucs to a disappointing 5-11 record — its worst finish in three seasons — despite preseason playoff expectations.
The accident is the latest off-field issue for the former Heisman Trophy quarterback, who has faced numerous legal issues dating back to his time at Florida State, including accusations of sexual assault allegation and shoplifting at a Publix grocery store.
