Jason Pierre Paul did a PSA that should scare the crap out anyone who wants to play with fireworks

Who better than JPP to talk about firework safety on the anniversary of his own accident?

Well, if you're going to ask an athlete to be a spokesperson on firework safety, there's no one better to have than New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul.

Pierre-Paul was injured last July 4th in a fireworks accident that resulted in the loss of most of his right hand—including his entire index finger. In the PSA, Pierre-Paul mentioned how he thought he could get rid of the explosive before it exploded, but failed to do so.

"In a split second it blew off my whole hand," Pierre-Paul said. "All I could do was think about my son and was I going to make it. Now I'm truly blessed to be alive. Now when I look at fireworks I think about safety."

If you take a look at his right hand, that should be more than enough evidence to keep even the most adventurous of us to stay away from fireworks.

You could lose a lot more than your hand.
