Cavallari, who married the longtime NFL quarterback in 2013 and divorced him in 2022, recently made a claim that raised eyebrows. During an episode of her Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour podcast last month, she said she never received "a penny" from Cutler — not to launch her company Uncommon James in 2017, and not in their divorce.

"I have never gotten a penny from my ex-husband," Cavallari said. "I didn't get any money from our divorce, so let's just clear that up."

Cutler, who played 12 NFL seasons and made roughly $122 million in salary alone, was not about to let that stand. On Friday's episode of his Take it Outside podcast, the 42-year-old fired back.

"Let's think about this logically. 'Not a penny.' OK. Married for, I don't know, seven years or so, three kids," Cutler said. "You can go and see how much I made in the NFL. It's online. You can see the contract from year to year and the total amount at the end of 12 years."

Cutler called Cavallari's claim "irresponsible" and "borderline slander," insisting that their divorce settlement was lengthy, specific, and far from zero.

"I've got a divorce decree signed by the judge — it's like 67 pages — and it says the number breakdown," he said. "It's completely false, completely untrue. It just is."

He also pointed out that Uncommon James, Cavallari's jewelry and skincare company, was created during their marriage and therefore treated as a marital asset. Cavallari's point may have been that she did not receive direct financial backing from Cutler when launching the business, but Cutler made it clear she benefited financially from their divorce.

The two share three children and separated in 2020. Cavallari has focused on her lifestyle brand and media projects, while Cutler, who once led the Chicago Bears to an NFC Championship appearance, has since moved on. He is engaged to a new partner.

Old wounds may fade, but in this case, the financial debate between Cavallari and Cutler has resurfaced loudly.
