The Bears were already dealing with leading tackler Jerrell Freeman being suspended four games and now will be starting essentially their fourth-string quarterback the rest of the season in Matt Barkley. Cutler also missed five games earlier in the season because of a thumb injury and hasn't played a full season of 16 games since his first year in Chicago in 2009. Should they decide to take the action, the Bears can release or trade Cutler after this season and take only a $2 million salary-cap hit.
