After a disappointing season in which the Washington Redskins narrowly missed the playoffs, head coach Jay Gruden has decided to clean house.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Gruden is set to fire his whole defensive coaching staff.
The Redskins struggles against both the pass and the run have officially given way to the terminations of defensive coordinator Joe Barry, defensive backs coach Perry Fewel, and defensive line coach Robb Akey. Strength and conditioning coach Mike Clark has reportedly also been fired.
It was a complete night and day comparison between the offense and the defense in 2016. Washington boasted the NFL's third-ranked total offense at 403.4 ypg, but ranked 28th out of 32 teams in total defense, surrendering 377.9 ypg.

Given that Gruden has always been an offensive-minded coach, some disparity is understandable. But now that his third year at the helm is complete, another season where the defensive side of the ball ends up costing the team the postseason could mean the end of his tenure with the Skins.
