"For several years, we've had the privilege of working closely with Jay-Z and Roc Nation, and I've seen the extraordinary impact he has had on the Super Bowl Halftime Show," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a press release.

"When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him. I couldn't be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage."

The news, as expected, created a wide variety of reactions as the football fans responded. Many of the comments focused on legal issues that the longtime rapper has faced. Others called it odd that he chose himself to be the performer for the Super Bowl 61 Halftime Show.

One person simply joked that they had hoped to see The Wiggles performing during the intermission of the biggest game of the year. Another person predicted that Beyonce will make an appearance during the show.

The comments continued with many people saying that 2026 is a little late for a Halftime Show featuring this particular artist. Others wanted to see Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber perform.

"No. Bad Bunny could never be topped (crying laughing emoji)," one person wrote. "The Super Bowl halftime is a really great opportunity to vomit up the combination of three/four Jell-O shots, 7 beers and queso, hydrate and discuss amongst friends really great excuses for calling in sick tomorrow. Then get back at it for quarters three and four.

"99 problems bring out linkin park..renegade ft eminem..only the good (expletive) please," another person wrote on X after seeing the announcement.
