Former Super Bowl champion arrested on DUI charge

Come on, man.

Seattle Seahawks defensive back Jeremy Lane was arrested early on Saturday morning on a charge of driving under the influence.

At the time of this writing, details regarding his blood alcohol level and other information are not yet available.

According to King County court records, the cornerback was booked into jail at 5:30 a.m. local time and was released on his own recognizance roughly four hours later.

Lane, who was drafted in the sixth round in 2012 out of Northwestern State University in Louisiana, has spent his entire career with the Seahawks. Oddly enough, even prior to this incident, Seattle was expected to part ways with the defensive standout during the offseason. Whether or not this expedites that process has yet to be seen.

Despite being benched twice this season, Lane was Seattle's primary nickelback from 2014 to 2016 and made 21 starts. That includes six this past season at right corner.

Lane is tentatively scheduled to make $6 million and count $7.25 million in each of the final two years on his contract. That is obviously pending, as the franchise might part ways with him before he is given that money.

Fully expect more official statements coming from both the National Football League franchise and the player as information begins to come to light.
