Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has decided to opt out of the NFL's deal with Ticketmaster to pair with SeatGeek instead.
Naturally, people believe this to be Jones' way of sticking it to the National Football League yet again.
For what it is worth, other franchises have done this as well. The Saints and Lions are both with SeatGeek instead of Ticketmaster.
Not to mention, at least according to ESPN's report, this has nothing to do with Monday's news concerning the NFL finding Jones $2 million. It is only that, at least in theory, if you want to stretch it to be it.
For those unaware, the league is reportedly going to fine Jones millions of dollars for his role in the efforts to derail the contract negotiations and for his outspoken defense of a star player who was suspended, according to five league officials that spoke to the New York Times. Here is more from the NYT:
"The punishment will be issued in the coming weeks by Goodell, who will declare that Jones's actions were detrimental to the league, which rarely shows such acute signs of acrimony among owners and the commissioner's office. Goodell has been reluctant to be seen as exacting retribution for the way Jones tried to sabotage his contract talks, but he was urged to bring the penalties by several owners who believed that Jones had crossed an unspoken boundary by threatening his colleagues."
Jones has been incredibly outspoken when it comes to the league and its suspension — at least in regards to Ezekiel Elliott — and even reportedly threatened Roger Goodell over the six-game suspension. It was a seemingly bogus suspension as it was labeled under the very generic "personal conduct policy violations" tab. Elliott was reportedly involved in a domestic violence incident, but the charges were dropped. That did not stop Goodell from suspending him and making a bigger deal out of it than the league probably should have.
This drama will never hand. More like Days of Jerry Jones' Life, am I right? Or is it General NFL-ital?
