The Dallas Cowboys' contract standoff with Micah Parsons has taken another sharp turn, with owner Jerry Jones delivering a blunt account of where talks stand.

Appearing on Michael Irvin's podcast, Jones said negotiations with Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, hit a wall when the Cowboys attempted to advance discussions.

"When we wanted to send the details to the agent, the agent told us to stick it up our ass," Jones said. "We were going to send it over to the agent and the agent said don't bother because we've got all that to negotiate. Well, I'd already negotiated. I'd already moved off my mark on several areas. And so, the issue is frankly that we already had the negotiation in my mind, and now the agent is trying to stick his nose in it."

Parsons, who requested a trade earlier this month, is set to play the 2025 season on his $24 million fifth-year option. Jones appeared unmoved by the standoff, even suggesting the All-Pro pass rusher could sit if he chooses.

"We've got three years to work this out," Jones said, referring to the fifth-year option plus the possibility of back-to-back franchise tags in 2026 and 2027.

That approach would effectively lock Parsons into Dallas through 2027, preventing him from reaching free agency.

Mulugheta, reached by the Dallas Morning News, confirmed he was aware of Jones' remarks but declined to comment further.

The latest twist adds more fuel to a saga that has dominated Cowboys training camp. Parsons, one of the NFL's most dominant defensive players, has already made it clear he is unhappy with the pace of talks. Jones, meanwhile, is taking a hard line, leaving the sides far apart both in tone and in trust.

In Dallas, the drama rarely takes a day off. And for the Cowboys, one of their brightest stars now sits at the center of the storm.
