The Jets owner spoke with reporters Tuesday during the NFL owners meetings in New York and made it clear he's unhappy with Justin Fields' play through seven weeks. Johnson gave head coach Aaron Glenn a vote of confidence but then took what sounded like a direct shot at his quarterback.
"If we can just complete a pass," Johnson said when asked about the team's struggles.
That one line said it all.
Fields is averaging just 140.7 passing yards per game this season, and while his completion percentage isn't the worst in the league, the Jets' offense has looked lifeless.
Woody Johnson, speaking to reporters at the NFL meetings in NYC, says he has faith and confidence in Aaron Glenn that he can turn it around.

The coaching staff has kept the playbook painfully conservative, rarely letting Fields push the ball downfield. Glenn has continued to publicly support him, but his decision to bench Fields during Sunday's loss to the Panthers told a different story.
The Jets haven't announced who will start in Week 8, though all signs point to veteran Tyrod Taylor getting the call against the Bengals.
At 0-7, the frustration is mounting across the organization — and Johnson's comments suggest patience is running thin. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers are 4-2, leaving Jets fans to wonder if the offseason shuffle was worth it.
