Joe Flacco doesn't know if he'll be the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback this season, and neither do his kids.

Flacco said Thursday that when he returned home from the team's offseason program in June, his children were among the first to ask if he had won the job. Like much of the football world, they're still waiting on an answer.
"I think there's been some communication between probably all the quarterbacks," Flacco told reporters. "So, yeah, I guess I know a little bit what to expect, at least for the next week. But ... it's hard for me to tell what it's going to look like, you know, two, three weeks from now."
The 39-year-old veteran is in a four-way competition that includes NFL veteran Kenny Pickett, third-round rookie Dillon Gabriel and fifth-round pick Shedeur Sanders. Flacco did not participate in 11-on-11 drills on the first day of training camp, while the other three quarterbacks split reps.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski said the plan is to rotate the group through various team periods and with different offensive units, making the early evaluation process more fluid. He added that the team hopes to "make decisions sooner than later."
Flacco, who joined Cleveland late in 2023 and helped lead the Browns to the playoffs, said he agrees with Stefanski's preference for clarity. He also knows it's out of his hands.
"I really don't have any control over it," Flacco said. "So I'm not going to waste energy worrying about it."
