Namath shared his thoughts after multiple NFL insiders reported that the Jets had a deal in place to secure the former Lions defensive coordinator.

"I'm hoping all (New York Jets) fans are as thrilled as my family and I are that Aaron Glenn is our new Head Coach," Namath posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. "I wish the season would start next week!"

Namath was not the only Hall of Famer expressing excitement about Glenn landing with the Jets. According to NFL Network's Judy Battista, legendary coach Bill Parcells also had significant praise for Glenn.

"He's not afraid to be contentious," Parcells said about Glenn, per Battista. "He's just feisty. Not rude or impolite. He's just willing to get his point across."

Glenn appears to be a fitting choice for the Jets considering his ties to the team. Long before he was leading the Lions' defense, he was a first-round selection by the Jets in the 1994 NFL Draft.

Glenn, a former Texas A&M player, was an immediate starter for Gang Green. He started 15 games as a rookie while posting two forced fumbles and 67 combined tackles.

Glenn remained a starter for the Jets for eight seasons while earning two trips to the Pro Bowl. He set a franchise record in 1996 by returning an interception 100 yards for a touchdown.

The future Jets head coach spent seven more seasons in the NFL. He played for the Texans in three seasons, the Cowboys in two seasons, the Jaguars in one season, and the Saints in one season. Glenn earned his third trip to the Pro Bowl during his time with the Texans.
