The Denver Broncos have a talented and interesting roster but, at the quarterback position, things remain unsettled. John Elway and company invested a 2016 first-round pick in former Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch but, for the most part, it was Trevor Siemian captaining the offense a season ago.

As training camp continues, there is a competition going between the two incumbents but, on Wednesday morning, a report emerged that linked the Broncos to a pursuit of Bengals quarterback AJ McCarron.
In short order, this report was refuted by multiple members of the media.
Beyond that, only minutes passed between the media refuting the story and Elway himself jumping into the mix to bring a swift and pointed denial.
It isn't a shock to see a denial but the way that Elway delivered it is noteworthy. The "fake news" reference is one that makes its way over from the political arena and that probably adds a bit of intrigue to the story.
Regardless, it never made a ton of sense for the Broncos, with two options already on board, to be pursuing McCarron and Elway put an end to that speculation with haste. We don't know who will be playing quarterback for Denver when the season opens but it isn't going to be AJ McCarron if you believe John Elway.
