John Elway speaks out on Tony Romo-to-Broncos rumors

John Elway pretends he's not aware of the Romo-to-Denver talk

John Elway must be a hell of a poker player.

During a news conference Monday, reporters asked Elway about the rampant speculation linking Romo and the Broncos.

The Bronco's general manager feigned ignorance.

USAToday reported his response was: "Really? Where, among you?" as he gestured to the assembled group of reporters

The Romo to Denver talks have been bubbling for months, and Elway surely knows that. But he also knows that Romo is still under contract with the Cowboys, and he was sure to point that out, while adding: "Nothing has changed since the combine. We're excited about the two guys we have, we feel like we're in good shape there."

But then he clouded the issue once again when he said the team would look at all its options.

Of course he's going to see what's available. Quarterbacks Trevor Siemian, last year's starter, and 2016 first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch are the guy's currently in tap to lead the Broncos offensive. It would be hard to find anyone to believed Elway would take either over Romo, even as an injury-plagued 37-year-old.

Besides, it looks like he could sign Romo if he becomes a free agent - reports say he's not interested in a trade - and then flip Siemian to the quarterback starved New York Jets.

The quarterback carousel isn't done spinning yet.
