Johnny Football is back in the headlines. But this time it has nothing to do with football.

Former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel has obtained an emergency temporary restraining order against a Texas woman he accuses of spreading bizarre and false claims that the two were in a relationship.

According to court documents, Manziel filed the lawsuit on Friday in Brazos County, alleging that MaKenzie Carter, also known as MaKenzie Calame, has been posting about and contacting people in his life while insisting the pair had a romantic connection.

Manziel says that relationship never existed.

The filing claims Carter sent emails to dozens of Manziel's friends, family members and business contacts, allegedly warning them of legal action if they continued interfering with what she described as their relationship.

Manziel's legal team paints a troubling picture, accusing Carter of spreading conspiracies and refusing to stop without a court order. So the former Heisman winner went to court.

The restraining order is designed to halt the behavior immediately while the legal process plays out. Manziel is also seeking damages of up to $250,000, along with attorney fees and a permanent injunction.

His attorney said the lawsuit was not something they wanted to pursue, but felt it became necessary to protect Manziel and those around him. A hearing is scheduled for Friday.

Once again, the Johnny Manziel story has taken a turn no one saw coming.
