Jon Gruden has returned to football ... though not with anyone in the NFL. Or even the United States, for that matter.

Instead, Gruden has taken a position as an advisor with the Milano Seamen of the European League of Football, the team announced.

Gruden, 60, was hired by the Seaman to "help us to improve our organization in every aspect," according to the announcement.

Also, based on the picture delivered by the team, Gruden has already begun his employment there. Though most likely, he will be advising from the U.S. That part actually wasn't clear. The Seaman are based in Milan, Italy.

"We're excited to announce that American football legend, Jon Gruden, will work with us as an advisor," Milano officials said. "Gruden won the 2002 Super Bowl with Tampa Bay, becoming the youngest head coach to win it. Gruden will help us to improve our organization in every aspect. He already started to work with our coaching staff."

TMZ Sports reports:

It's Gruden's first full-time gig since his controversial departure from the Las Vegas Raiders in October 2021 ... after it was revealed he used homophobic, racist and misogynistic language in past emails.

Gruden sued the NFL a month later ... accusing the league and commissioner Roger Goodell of orchestrating a campaign to torpedo his career.

A United States House Oversight and Reform Committee report later alleged it was the Washington Commanders that released the messages to the media.

The press release went on to note that Gruden isn't the only Super Bowl-winning coach employed by the ELF. Three-time Super Bowl-winning coach Gary Kubiak has been an advisor of the Panthers Wroc?aw since 2022. Kubiak won one Super Bowl as a head coach, with the Denver Broncos, and two as an assistant with the San Francisco 49ers.

The ELF was founded in 2020 and consists of 17 teams across Europe.
