Kirk Cousins has a coach in mind for wherever he plays next.
Bill Belichick reportedly has sights set on the Atlanta Falcons head coaching vacancy, and part of the future Hall of Fame coach's plan just might include bringing in a veteran quarterback to lead his offense.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is set to become a free agent this March, and didn't downplay the possibility of following Belichick in hopes of chasing a Super Bowl ring.
"I'm not going to turn down an opportunity to play with a future Hall of Fame coach, but we'll have to see where March leads," Cousins told CBS Sports. "It's just a lot of unknowns right now."
Cousins is aiming to return from a torn Achilles tendon that ended his 2023 season, back in Week 8, but faces an uncertain future with the Vikings.
Prior to getting injured, Cousins completed 69.5 percent of his passes for 2,331 yards with 18 touchdowns to five interceptions with a 103.8 passer rating.
The Falcons could prove a fascinating fit for Cousins, especially with a dynamic supporting cast in place on offense, including electrifying running back Bijan Robinson, deep-threat wide receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts.
A career 66.9 percent passer with 39,481 passing yards, 270 passing touchdowns and 110 interceptions, Atlanta's offensive weapons could benefit from a steady veteran presence, such as Cousins, at quarterback.

During his career, Cousins has only appeared in five playoff games, with just one postseason victory.
Pairing with Belichick, and the Falcons' weapons could give Cousins the best chance to make a lengthy postseason run in 2024, especially given the wide-open state of the NFC South.
"Great respect for him as a coach, like everyone else in pro football," Cousins said of Belichick. "If you go to that many Super Bowls, win that many Super Bowls, go to that many conference championship games, have the defensive production that he's had for years and years, it says it all."
