Bill Belichick coaching in college? Yeah, that's still sinking in for a lot of people—including Kliff Kingsbury.

The Washington Commanders offensive coordinator, one of the few guys with legit experience in both the NFL and college football, isn't quite ready to buy into the idea of Belichick patrolling the sidelines at Chapel Hill.
"I will have to see him on the sideline to believe that's happening," Kingsbury said on Thursday. "We'll see how the NFL job search goes and all that. I will have to see him on the sideline coaching in Chapel Hill to believe that's happening."
And Kingsbury wasn't done there. Asked about how much the college game has changed—hello, NIL and transfer portal—he questioned how Belichick might handle recruiting.
"I don't see my man going into any home visits or doing like the cocktail hour after the visits. I just don't," Kingsbury said with a laugh. "Maybe he'll set it up like an NFL deal, but I have to see it to believe it."

Classic Kingsbury. But Belichick seems to think today's college game actually suits him better than it might've in the past. The structure, the NIL money, and even the transfer rules make it feel closer to the NFL, which is basically his comfort zone.
Still, there are legit questions: Can UNC provide the resources and environment Belichick needs to win? And is he truly done with the NFL? Some skeptics think Belichick might just be biding his time until the right NFL opportunity opens up.
For now, though, "Chapel Bill" is the new reality. Whether he's recruiting over cocktails or designing game plans for the Tar Heels, Belichick has yet again shocked the football world. Stay tuned—this story's far from over.
