According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Kelce and fellow Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes are asking a federal court to dismiss or move a trademark lawsuit filed against them by footwear company 1587 Sneakers.

The dispute centers on 1587 Prime, the upscale steakhouse the two NFL stars opened in 2025. The restaurant's name combines Mahomes' No. 15 jersey and Kelce's No. 87.

1587 Sneakers claims it has long held the trademark for "1587," saying the name references the year Filipino sailors first arrived in America. The company argues Kelce, Mahomes and their restaurant infringed on that trademark and wants them barred from continuing to use the name.

Kelce and Mahomes, however, contend the lawsuit was filed in the wrong court.

According to the filing, the pair argues they do not have sufficient ties to New York for the case to be heard there, despite the company's claim that the NFL stars regularly participate in national advertising campaigns.

The legal filing surfaced just days after Kelce married pop superstar Taylor Swift in the year's most high-profile celebrity weddings.

While the trademark dispute continues to make its way through the courts, neither Kelce nor Mahomes has publicly commented on the case.
