The incident occurred during the second quarter of the game in Detroit. Dorsey chased wide receiver Mack Hollins near the goal line before he collided with teammate Ezekiel Turner, who covered running back Ty Johnson.

Dorsey's right foot slammed into Turner's left leg. Play-by-play man Jim Nantz said that the foot got "completely turned around." CBS Sports did not show the replay more than one time due to the severity of the injury.

The injury halted the game for several minutes as the medical staff tended to Dorsey. They ultimately carted him off of the field with his leg in an air cast. The game continued with Bills kicker Tyler Bass missing a field goal on the next play.

CBS Sports reported during the second half of the game that Dorsey had been transported to a local hospital with a "severe ankle injury."

Dorsey is in his second season with the Lions. He has appeared in all 14 games this season while registering two passes defensed and 13 combined tackles. One of his tackles was for a loss.

Injuries have hit the Lions' defense this season. Sunday's game against the Bills was only the latest example. Dorsey suffered a serious injury and left the field on the cart while fellow defensive back Carlton Davis III spent time in the blue medical tent being evaluated for a jaw injury and a concussion.

The injury list also includes edge rusher Marcus Davenport (elbow), defensive tackle Kyle Peko (torn pectoral), defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo (knee), linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez (torn ACL), linebacker Alex Anzalone (broken forearm), linebacker Derrick Barnes (torn MCL and ACL), linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin (neck), edge rusher John Cominsky (torn MCL), edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson (broken leg), cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (hamstring), and safety Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle).

Some of these defenders could potentially return for the playoffs as the Lions try to win the NFC. Others, such as Davenport and Peko, will not return until the 2025 season.
