Second round pick could miss rookie season after horrible accident

This is just awful.

Former Michigan State defensive lineman Malik McDowell was selected 35th overall in this year's NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. The team was undoubtedly excited to have him and his 300-pound frame on the defensive line this year, but it looks like his season could be cut off before it even happens.

The severity of the accident is unknown, but coach Pete Carroll is making it sound like it could end the rookie's season right now:

McDowell was a two-time second teamer on the All-Big Ten team in his last two seasons and recorded 7.5 sacks to go with 24.5 tackles for loss in his three years at Michigan State.
