Kansas City Chiefs starting cornerback Marcus Peters has been suspended for an incident that occurred during Sunday's 38-31 loss to the New York Jets, head coach Andy Reid announced on Wednesday.

Peters protested a defensive holding call on teammate Steven Nelson during a two-point conversion attempt by the Jets late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game. The Pro Bowler tossed a referee's flag into the stands and was called for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Peters, assuming he would be ejected from the game, jogged into the locker room as the game continued and later ran back onto the field sockless with a Chiefs staffer.
On Monday, Reid said has still "evaluating" whether to take disciplinary action in response to the incident.
"I haven't made any decision either way," Reid said, per ESPN's Adam Teicher. "(But) that was the wrong thing for (Peters) to do."
The news couldn't come at a worse time for Kansas City (6-6), who will host the Oakland Raiders (6-6) in a crucial game that could decide the outcome of the AFC West on Sunday.
