Marshawn Lynch Is Seriously Considering a Run To Be Oakland’s Next Mayor

Marshawn Lynch had some memorable runs in his career. I mean, how can any of us forget that 67-yard touchdown run in the Wild Card round that gave birth to the Beast Mode moniker. Well, Lynch is now considering another run that won't require him to stiff-arm or truck stick his way through 11 defenders. A Lynch mayor run is a possibility... seriously.

The longtime NFL star - the same one who was just smoking during his College Gameday appearance - talked about the prospect of his candidacy with California's governor, Gavin Newsome, while the two were on their "Politickin" podcast.

Calling it a "possibility" he would consider a run, Lynch was presented some favorable numbers by Newsome that suggest his legitimacy. Newsome said that a private poll that he had access to determined that 43% of people polled had a favorable opinion of Lynch while only 7% were negative.

"That's off the charts, brother," Newsom said before pointing out he's had polls where his numbers were 70% unfavorable. "Seven percent unfavorable? That never has happened in my life."

All of this has come out of nowhere. After all, it's not like Lynch has a political background nor ever expressed any interest in running. That said, it's hard to chalk all of this up as nothing. He is receiving good intel from the state's current governor, so that has to account for something. Why shouldn't a Lynch mayor run happen if the current governor is hyping him up?

The reason any of this is relevant has to do with the current Oakland governor, Sheng Thao, who is up for a possible recall election. This stems from an FBI raid on her home on suspicion of dismantling the police department, which led to a public safety issue, along with a missed state grant deadline that raised eyebrows.

If Lynch is serious about running, it could be very soon.

Now imagine that... and imagine that inaugural speech. Grab your Skittles; this could get real interesting!
