Lions WR Mourns Infant Son’s Sudden Death in Touching Post

Oftentimes in life, there are no words when tragedy strikes. Everything can change in the blink of an eye and there's no real possible way to prepare for it. What happened to Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. and his family is truly devastating.

Earlier this month, Jones was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. His NFL season was over, and he finished with 62 catches for 508 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. Having to sit out was tough, but it doesn't hold a candle to what he's going through right now.

Jones and his wife Jazmyn, as well as countless others, are mourning the loss of their 6-month-old son Marlo, who died suddenly on Friday.

Marvin Jones' Son's Death

This is unbelievably sad. Marvin and Jazymn Jones had five kids together, and just lost their youngest boy only days after Christmas.

It's truly hard to put that into words, but Jones did so perfectly in a social media post.

"Yesterday the Lord called home a piece of my family's heart, Marlo. It is hard to believe that our little angel, our fighter from day one, our son 'Marlito' has unfortunately passed away and is no longer here with us. Marlo, the joy that you brought to us everyday, with that smile, and that energy was like heaven on earth. You will always be in our hearts. We will always remember you. We did not get the chance to hear your first words (It would've been in Spanish too).

"We didn't get to see you run with your brothers and sister, you ran with them with your eyes everyday. We know that everything that We do from here on out will be with you. Every step we take, you will be with us. Whenever we have a bad day, We will think of your smile. We miss you already buddy and will forever love you. Rest peacefully our sweet baby boy. You have gained your wings."

The Lions organization also released a statement:

"Earlier today, we were informed by Marvin and Jazmyn Jones about the sudden passing of their youngest son, Marlo. The Detroit Lions fully support Marvin and Jazmyn during this extremely difficult time.

"Marvin and Jazmyn embody the true meaning of family, and the example they set has made them an inspiration to so many in our community. We thank everyone for the outpouring of support.

"On behalf of the Jones family, we ask that everyone respect the privacy of the matter at this time."

Detroit Lions Moment of Silence

Before the Lions played the Green Bay Packers in the final game of the regular season at Ford Field, the organization held a moment of silence for the Jones family and their late son

Marvin was joined by his wife and four children on the sideline.

The sudden death of Marvin Jones' infant son is incredibly sad and everyone's thoughts are with the family right now.
