According to an announcement from the NFL, the game will take place at Bernabéu Stadium. This stadium is the home of the Spanish soccer team, Real Madrid C.F. The league did not provide the date of the game or the Dolphins' opponent. These details will be unveiled with the full schedule release in the spring.
The Dolphins are one of the two NFL teams with marketing rights in Spain as part of the Global Markets Program. The Bears are the other team that can build its fanbase in Spain with fan engagement, commercial opportunities, and other events.
"We are thrilled to play the NFL's inaugural game in Spain, a country of rich history, tradition, and passion and home to a vibrant Dolphins fanbase," said Miami Dolphins vice chairman, president, and CEO Tom Garfinkel, in a statement.
"There is a hunger for football in this market, and we are proud to join with the NFL in growing the game internationally while engaging with old and new fans alike.
"With the unique synergy between Miami and Madrid, we believe this is only the beginning for us in this incredible region and we look forward to bringing the excitement and community of Dolphins football to Spain in 2025 and beyond."
Making the Dolphins the designated home team for the Madrid game is the latest International Series announcement from the NFL. The league also designated the home teams for the games in London and Berlin.
According to previous announcements, the Colts will host the first-ever regular-season game in Berlin. The AFC South team has previously played in Frankfurt, Germany, and has marketing rights in the nation.
The Jets and Browns will both host games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London during the 2025 regular season. The Jaguars will continue its partnership with the United Kingdom by hosting a game at Wembley Stadium.
