Micah Parsons on lack of holding calls: 'They want to load the points up so fans can be happy'

Packers coach Matt LaFleur plans to have a word with the officials before Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals. And he's not hiding why.

LaFleur said Thursday that Green Bay is "frustrated" over the lack of holding calls on opponents, especially those blocking Micah Parsons.

"That's definitely going to be a conversation pregame," LaFleur said, as relayed by Pro Football Talk's Charean Williams.

The Bengals, last week's opponent, weren't called for a single holding penalty on 46 Joe Flacco dropbacks — including a play where left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. appeared to tackle Parsons outright. It's not an isolated issue either. Packers opponents have been flagged for holding only five times all season.

Parsons, who dealt with similar treatment in Dallas, said the problem has been going on for years.

"Five years of not getting a call, you eventually stop worrying about it," he said. "I just got to keep going. That's bothersome. That worries me. That's part of being one of the best."

He added that the league's officiating favors offense, saying, "They won't call offensive pass interference, but they'll call defensive pass interference. They want to load the points up so fans can be happy."

Parsons also argued that the NFL's player-safety push is one-sided.

"Protect the defense," he said. "If you're going to say it's about protecting players, then protect all players. Don't just protect one side of the ball."

Expect LaFleur's pregame chat to include a few of those same points.
