According to The Tennesseean, Carolina Panthers offensive lineman Michael Oher turned himself in to police on Tuesday on a charge of assault. Oher was subsequently booked into a Nashville jail and later released.
Oher is facing the assault charge after an April 14 incident with an Uber driver, where Oher is accused of confronting the driver of the vehicle after making a stop. Per the original WKRN report, Oher allegedly pushed the driver to the ground and kicked him before being restrained.
After being released on Tuesday, Oher will have his next court date on June 6.
Oher, who played his college ball at Ole Miss, was a first round draft choice by the Baltimore Ravens back in 2009. Oher won a Super Bowl as a starting lineman with the Ravens, and he has appeared in another as a starter for the Carolina Panthers. Oher missed most of the 2016 season with concussion issues.
Oher is probably most famously known as the inspiration for the movie "The Blind Side" featuring Sandra Bullock and Quinton Aaron. The movie depicts Oher's rise from a homeless teenager into a star lineman for Ole Miss.
