The Miami Dolphins will miss the playoffs for the first time since Mike McDaniel took over as head coach in 2022, but McDaniel remains optimistic about his future and the team's prospects in 2025.

Following Sunday's disappointing 32-20 loss to the Jets, McDaniel expressed confidence that he will return for a fourth season at the helm.
"My full expectation is that I'll be back," McDaniel said, as reported by multiple outlets.
The Dolphins entered the game with a slim chance to make the playoffs, needing a win over the Jets and a Broncos loss. However, with Denver securing a victory, Miami's postseason hopes were dashed.
Despite the setback, McDaniel, who signed a three-year contract extension before the 2023 season, is not looking at this as the end of the line. He also expressed confidence that he will continue to work alongside General Manager Chris Grier.
"I expect to be here with Chris moving forward," McDaniel added.
While the Dolphins showed explosive potential during the 2023 season, finishing second in the league in scoring, they took a step back in 2024. The offense fell to 22nd in the NFL, and McDaniel acknowledged that revitalizing the offense will be one of the team's primary focuses this offseason.
With a high-powered offense that includes playmakers like Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill, the Dolphins are well-positioned to bounce back quickly, but they will need to recalibrate their approach to return to playoff contention. As McDaniel looks ahead, 2025 remains the target year for a postseason return in Miami.
