Mike Tirico takes on new sports broadcasting challenge

Mike Tirico has accomplished a significant amount in his sports broadcasting career, but he will face a new challenge in February. He will lead the call for two high-profile events on two different continents on the same day.

Tirico, the play-by-play man for NBC's Sunday Night Football, will take on this same role for Super Bowl 60. This game on Feb. 8, 2026, will mark his first time leading the booth for the biggest game on the NFL schedule.

Shortly after Super Bowl 60 ends, Tirico will then shift his focus. He will lead the "Primetime in Milan" coverage as the Winter Olympics continue. Tirico will lead the Feb. 8 coverage from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. He will then head to Italy for more coverage, where he will remain from Feb. 10 until Feb. 22.

The veteran broadcaster has led NBC's primetime Olympic coverage four times before. His fifth time will feature a milestone monent as he tries to seamlessly switch between the NFL and the Olympic Games.

Tirico has been the all-purpose weapon for multiple networks throughout his career. He spent decades with ESPN while serving as an anchor of "SportsCenter" and "Monday Night Countdown." He also called the U.S. Open, two FIFA World Cups, the UEFA Euro 2016, and numerous NBA games.

Since joining NBC Sports in 2016, the veteran broadcaster has continued to work across numerous sports. He has led coverage of the Olympics multiple times and taken over as the lead voice of "Sunday Night Football." He has also done play-by-play for college football, the NHL, and golf. He also works as the lead voice of NBC's NBA coverage.

Tirico will not be the only member of the NBC Sports team pulling double duty in early February 2026. Maria Taylor will also join in on the fun. She will lead the Super Bowl pregame show for the first time since joining NBC Sports in 2021. She will lead the primetime coverage of the Olympics on Feb. 7 before joining the team in Italy to lead the late-night coverage on Feb. 10 and beyond.
