The NBC Sports lineup is expanding during the 2026 NFL season. The broadcaster will have exclusive rights to an additional game through its streaming platform Peacock.

According to a press release, this game will kick off a big weekend for the longtime broadcast partner. The new exclusive game will take place on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2027, at 4:30 p.m. ET. This will be the NFL Holiday Special, and it will air on both NBC and Peacock.
This afternoon game will lead directly into the Jan. 2, 2027, Peacock NFL Exclusive game at 8 p.m. ET. Sunday Night Football will then air on Sun., Jan. 3, 2027, at 8:20 p.m. ET. NBC and Peacock will both have the Sunday night broadcast.
This addition of the NFL Holiday Special takes the NBC Sports NFL lineup to 26 total games in the upcoming season. The broadcast partner will kick off its schedule with the annual Hall of Fame Game on 6. It will then air 22 games during the regular season.
The other three games will take place during the playoffs. NBC will air two wild-card round games and one divisional round game.
"We're excited to work with our partners at the NFL to acquire an additional game for NBCUniversal platforms at a crucial point on the schedule," said Rick Cordella, president of NBC Sports, in a press release.
"With three NFL games in exclusive national windows on the season's penultimate weekend, we continue to deliver for our owned-stations, affiliates and partners."
The NFL and NBC Sports have not revealed which teams will play during this expanded January lineup. This information will come on Thursday, May 14, as the league releases the full schedule for the 2026 season. NFL.com and NFL+ will make the big announcement at 8 p.m. ET.
That being said, NBC Sports did provide one key piece of information. The broadcast partner announced on May 11 that it will showcase the Dallas Cowboys at the New York Giants to kick off the Sunday Night Football schedule. This primetime matchup will take place on Sunday, Sept. 13.
