Well, this is a weird situation. The news regarding New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones came late on Tuesday evening when WEEI in Boston reported that Jones overdosed on pills on Saturday night of this past weekend. Jones was hospitalized early Sunday morning. Chris Curtis, a producer at the Boston radio station, first broke the news of the overdose. As far as what the pills were that Chandler took, that's currently unknown. But Mike Florio points out that Jones could be subject to NFL disciplinary action if the substance has been banned by the league.

The report from WEEI initially claimed that the overdose happened at teammate Rob Gronkowski's house. That tweet has been deleted, replaced by a new one that reiterates the overdose report, but that does not say where it occurred.
On Tuesday evening, the story got weirder when details of Jones' arrival to the hospital were released. According to PFT, Jones walked on foot to the Foxboro police department. Heavy.com then obtained and released the audio of the police dispatch upon Jones' arrival, which sites Jones as a "confused party."
Per Comcast Sports New England, the Foxboro fire department was subsequently summoned by the dispatcher for a medical emergency. Jones was transported to Norwood Hospital where he was treated and released.
An officer was sent to Jones' home to secure it. In the audio, the officer told dispatch, "I got his keys off the kitchen table, I was able to lock the front door. If you want to just pass along to the fire, he was definitely involved with Class D delta before this happened, just so they know."
Class D, according to CSN New England, likely refers to the classification of Class D narcotics, which includes marijuana.

On Wednesday, WEEI reported that both Gronkowski and Jones were present at practice. New England is set to take on the Kansas City Chiefs this Saturday at 4:35p.m. for the AFC divisional round.
