Bears fans focus on wrong team with pre-game chant

The Chicago Bears fans showed up for Sunday night's divisional round playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams full of enthusiasm. However, they turned their attention to a different team with their pre-game chant.

ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington posted a video on Sunday that showed the Bears fans filing into the stadium. They yelled with one voice, "Green Bay sucks. Green Bay sucks."

One person tried to change the chant by saying, "Guys, we're playing the Rams." This did not deter them. They continued to chant, "Green Bay sucks" while preparing for a pivotal divisional round game.

All the Chicago Bears needed to do was defeat the Los Angeles Rams at home. This would send the team to the NFC championship game for the first time since the 2010 season when backup Caleb Hanie had to step in for an injured Jay Cutler.

The rivalry between the Packers and Bears is nothing new. These two teams have played for decades, and their fans have shown their distaste for each other many times over.

One coach has also gotten in on the act. Ben Johnson, who led the Bears to the divisional round in his first year as head coach, made his feelings about the Packers perfectly clear after beating the rival team in the wild-card round.

"F—- the Packers! F—- them! I f—-ing hate those guys," Johnson screamed after the 31-27 win that eliminated the Packers from the playoffs. The Bears then pushed this video to social media and sparked debates among NFL fans and analysts alike.

When asked about this viral moment, Johnson explained that this is a rivalry between the two cities. He also acknowledged that he had addressed them with Bears owner George McCaskey.

"Like I said before, there's a rivalry that exists between these two teams," Johnson said the day after defeating the Packers.

"Something that I fully recognize and I'm a part of and... yeah. I just don't like that team. So George and I have talked, and we're on the same page."
