Romeo Doubs Skipped Practice Over Drop in Usage

The decision was announced by general manager Brian Gutekunst on Saturday as the Packers prepare for their Week 5 matchup against the LA Rams.

Doubs was initially listed as doubtful for Sunday's game due to personal reasons. It was later reported that he missed two days of practices and meetings this week because he was unhappy with his role in the offense.

"Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to suspend Romeo for this week's game," General Manager Brian Gutekunst said in a statement. "His decisions and actions during the week negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action. While we are certainly disappointed, we are confident that we will be able to move forward in a positive manner. Romeo is a valuable member of our team and we look forward to welcoming him back next week."

Head coach Matt LaFleur said it felt "personal" when discussing the receiver's absence from practice. Doubs participated in Wednesday's practice was nowhere to be found in the team's facility over the next two days. Team representatives later discovered Doubs at his residence after expressing concern over his no-show.

Doubs' Absence on Sunday Will Be Felt

Doubs is currently tied for second-most on the team in rceptions (12) and targets (20) in addition to the 169 yards he's posted in four games.

Last season, Doubs was the Packers' most-targeted receiver (96) and finished second among Green Bay receivers in both catches (59) and yards (674) behind Jayden Reed.

After Doubs' suspension, Green Bay heads into their game on Sunday without two offensive weapons. They're expected to be without wide receiver Christian Watson on due to a sprained left ankle.
