Vikings Fans Push for Team to Sign Retired Star Quarterback

The list of NFL starting quarterbacks continued to grow Sunday after Minnesota Vikings signal-caller Kirk Cousins went down with what is believed to be an Achilles injury, pending an MRI.

Cousins was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of the Vikings' 24-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers. It didn't take long for Vikings fans to weigh in on who should replace Cousins. They took to social media clamoring for Tom Brady to come out of retirement.

"Vikings should send a serious phone call to Tom Brady. Otherwise they're sticking with the rookie rest of the way. No reason to trade for a QB," wrote one fan.

Another said, "there is only one man who can salvage this season and end the curse of the Vikings franchise by finally bringing a Lombardi Trophy to Minnesota. That man is Thomas Edward Patrick Brady. I know you have one more in you. @TomBrady."

Fans weren't the only ones clamoring for the future Hall of Famer's return.

"Am I the only one thinking the Vikings should call Tom Brady?" wrote ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio.

Apparently not. Before the injury, Cousins sported a 69.5 completion percentage, throwing for 2,331 yards with 18 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. It's hard to blame Vikings fans for wanting the seven-time Super Bowl champion to bring the team something they've never had in four tries: a Lombardi trophy of their own.

Brady is a busy man these days, having just purchased the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces and a Major League Pickleball team. At 46, it's hard to imagine Brady donning the pads again, even for a team that has won four out of its last five games after starting the season 0-3. Rookie Jaren Hall and practice squad veteran Sean Mannion are the two quarterbacks in-house, with Nick Mullens scheduled to come off injured reserve in Week 10.

Depending on whether the Vikings address the position at the October 31 trade deadline, fans may have to be content with someone else other than Brady taking the snaps. It's always nice to dream, though.
