DK Metcalf's Sign Language Celebrations Are the Most Creative in the NFL

In the NFL, certain celebrations are deemed excessive, resulting in fines, but Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf may have found a way to get around those rules, albeit, unconventional.

As Front Office Sports points out, Metcalf has been fined over $98,000 for excessive celebrations/unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. Well, in his downtime, to prevent the "excessiveness" or "unsportsmanlike-ness," Metcalf learned sign language.

According to Front Office Sports, his celebration in the clip above signaled "standing on business."

The celebration came after quarterback Geno Smith threw a massive 73-yard breakaway touchdown to the 25-year-old wide receiver against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football.

On the Prime Video broadcast, Kaylee Hartung explained to viewers that the phrase meant "taking care of your responsibilities."

Needless to say, users on X were big fans of Metcalf's tactic.

"I respect this level of petty," one user wrote.

"This has been one of the coolest side stories in the NFL this season," another said.

"I'm obsessed with DK Metcalf learning sign language to trash talk guys. Just a genius idea," another wrote.

"DK Metcalf should go into the HOF just for learning sign language to talk trash without getting fined," another user wrote.

"dk metcalf saying "standing on bidness" in sign language after scoring a touchdown, put him in the hall of fame right now," someone else said.

Heading into that game, Metcalf had seen 75 targets. He caught 43 of them for 678 yards and three touchdowns. Against the Cowboys, Metcalf had six receptions for 134 yards and three touchdowns. He had a monstrous performance.

The Seahawks did lose, though, 41-35. His quarterback, Geno Smith, completed 23 of 41 passes for 334 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Next, the 6-6 Seahawks will take on the San Francisco 49ers on December 10 at 4:05 ET in Week 14 of the 2023-24 NFL season.
