The veteran quarterback leaves the Kansas City Chiefs after one season and one start. He now heads to the Arizona Cardinals on a one-year, $5.75 million deal that could be worth up to $8 million.
Minshew will join a team looking for answers at the quarterback position. The NFC West team just released former first overall pick Kyler Murray after seven seasons, opening the doors for him to sign with the Minnesota Vikings.
Prior to the release, Murray missed extensive time with injuries. The team also shelved him at the end of the 2025 season while giving Jacoby Brissett the nod as the starting quarterback. Brissett will be back on the Cardinals roster for 2026 as part of a two-year, $12.5 million deal.
Another quarterback could join the fold this April. The Cardinals have seven picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, including the third overall. This isn't a packed quarterback class, especially with Fernando Mendoza likely heading to the Raiders first overall, but options remain for the team.
Minshew brings considerable experience to this group. He has been in the NFL since landing with the Jaguars as a sixth-round pick in the 2019 Draft, and he has appeared in 63 games (47 starts).
The former Washington State quarterback's best statistical season came in 2019 as he started 12 of the 14 games in which he appeared. He went 6-6 as a starter while throwing for 3,271 yards with 21 touchdowns and only six interceptions.
Minshew only started select games between 2020 and 2022 while playing for the Jaguars and then Eagles, but he became a prominent player once again in 2023.
He appeared in 17 games for the Colts, starting 13, and he made the Pro Bowl after throwing for 3,305 yards with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He went 7-6 as a starter in his lone season with the Colts. He went 2-7 as a starter for the Raiders the following season (2024) before joining the Chiefs as a backup.
